Run a cafe during the school musical's intermission! Students at
New Life Christian School decorated their café with flowers,
vines, and candles so that it matched the school musical, "Cinderella.
They sold homemade fruit salad and baked goods to hungry theatergoers.
There
were three nights of performances, so leftovers were saved and
refrigerated for the follow night. And on the last night, the
remaining food was sold at a discount - better to make a smaller
profit than have to throw food out.

Research
can save your bacon. Cafes had been held at other events
at New Life Christian School, so the students were able to
estimate how much food would be needed this year. See if
your school has any records on how successful past fundraisers
have been - and if there aren't any records, now's a great
time to start.

Conserve,
conserve, conserve. Selling food can be tricky, since
it goes bad if you don't refrigerate it properly. If you
have to throw food out because it's rotten, you're throwing
profit. Make sure you have the right equipment for your fundraiser,
and that everyone knows basic rules for food handling.

A
little decoration goes a long way. It may seem a little
silly to put up Cinderella-themed decorations, but drawing
attention to your fundraiser is very important. Think about
ways you can grab people's eyes.
